MANATEES „The last sirens"

The endangered species of the Westindian Manatees or Seacows, photographed in their last refuge and sanctuary at Crystal River Florida. Underwater, land and aerial pictures. Specially underlined is the effort of men to protect these gentle animals today, but still the number of MANATEES is decreasing every year!

MANTAS „The peaceful devils"

Mantas or so called Devil Rays, photographed in the Red Sea, Indian Ocean and Polynesia show these animals and their behaviours wile feeding plankton, escorted by suckerfish or swimming with divers. These giant animals have a wingspan of 3 to 5 metres.

SEATURTLES „250 million years on earth and now close to extinction" 

Pictures of the Hawksbill, Green Turtle, Loggerhead, Learherback and others, above and underwater, documents all their behaviours.
To underline the importance of protecting these animals, pictures show the trade with Seaturtle products and the senseless killing of 20 000 Turtles per year in Bali/ Indonesia.

SHARKS „The hunted hunters" 

One hundred million Sharks are killed every year. Some species as the Great White, Tiger Sharks and others are nowadays close to extinction. The article explains that Sharks are not "killers" as most people believe. Excellent Photographs of the most spectacular species as the Great White Shark, Hammerhead, Silvertips, Greysharks. SHELLS OF POLYNESIA

The result of many months night diving in the Atoll of Tuamotu. The report contains pictures of the most beautiful living shells from the area and their different behaviour. Porcelains, Murex, Tridagnas, the deadly Cones and aTritonshell attacking the coral eating "Crown of Thorns" Starfish. Pictures of ornaments made from shells used in Polynesian folkloric dances.

HERON ISLAND "Nature reserve on the Great Barrier Reef of Australia"

This island is a nesting ground for hundreds of thousands of birds. During the season thousands of endangered Seaturtles laying eggs on the sandy beaches. The underwater world is rich in fishes, other marinelife and corals. The tourist resort reflects a perfect example of bringing people close to nature, without disturbing it.
A wildlife information centre, strict regulations and naturalist guides educate visitors and a clearing station and waste deportation to the mainland is a part of the infrastructure.

GALAPAGOS "The world Darwin never seen"

This report reflects a long journey through the archipelago on board a diving boat. TRITON "Duel on the bottom of the sea"

A complete documentation in pictures showing the attack and the following fight between the Triton Shell and a giant Starfish called "Crown of Thorns" The Triton is the only enemy of this coral eating starfish. The "Crown of Thorns" population is increasing rapidly and coral reefs all over the world are in danger. The Triton Shells itself are decreasing every year because of uncontrolled collecting for souvenirs.

CLEANING STATION "Beauty salon on the reef"

A very important institution for the health of fishes, are "cleaning stations" which are to found on particular places on the reefs. Here small fishes and crabs are waiting for clients. After a special signal from the client the cleaners start the work by cleaning the teeth, the gills, the skin and even the eyes of parasites. The report shows one particular cleaning station on a Maldives Reef and the behaviour of 4 different fishes. A large Moray Eel, a Jewel-Grouper, a large Soldier fish and a redmouth Grouper. STINGRAYS "Stingray City"

A unique spot in the Maldives and in Grand Cayman which is a meeting point of hundreds of large Stingrays. These animals are absolutely tame and love to play with the divers.

More and more opposition from people results in closing Dolphin Shows. Dolphins which have lived in captivity have to be trained back to the sea. THE KILLERWHALES OF PICO ISLAND

Once a year large groups of "False Killer whales" come to the Azores and hunt huge Yellowfin-Tunas.
This report shows a feeding session by a group of more then 15 Whales. Pictures of such a a group eating their prey, has never been made before !
The selection shows the Whales in groups, couples, alone, and eating. Hunting tunafish and diving birds in a so called "feedingball".

THE MAN WHO SAVED THE SHARKS

Scientists and Divers are concerned.  More than one hundred million Sharks are killed every year. In some parts of the world, dive operations start their own way to protect sharks from being fished out and killed. To enlighten the people in the Bahamas and all over the world, underwater naturalist Ben Rose brings almost every day more than 20 large Caribbean Reef sharks, close to Sport divers from all over the world.
